It's a new year for cross country

It's a new year for Marion High School cross country.

New coach is Matt Robert, industrial arts teacher at MHS. He has experience in long-distance and endurance running, and looks forward to the year.

But until he sees the team in competition, it's hard to say how the year will go.

"We look promising, and we're hopeful," he said. "I don't know what more I can say."

Not enough boys are out to compete as a team, but Zac Ewert, who advanced to state last year, returns, as does fellow senior Brian Bina. Freshman Brandon Watson rounds out the roster.

The girls include seniors Ive Eddy, Tomi McLinden, and Johanna Pape; juniors Haley Creamer and Jessica DeForest, and sophomore Alissa Vogel and Briana Vogel.
