Jack Webb notches first ace at Marion Country Club
Marion golfer and golf instructor Jack Webb has for decades observed the joy of fellow golfers who have scored holes-in-one.
His sons, Doug, Hugh, and Chris, have all accomplished the feat. Several former students have likewise tallied aces.
Webb has been left on the outside looking in, as he had never scored an ace.
When Webb launched a tee shot on the ninth hole of Friday's round at Marion Country Club, all that changed.
Webb's seven-iron tee shot on the 162-yard, par-3 sailed over the creek, landed on the green, and trickled into the cup for his first-ever ace.
Playing partners Keith Jones and J.W. Stockdale witnessed the hole-in-one.
"I couldn't believe it," Webb grinned.
The threesome played a second round, and Webb noted the milestone didn't make the round any easier.
"I was shaking almost the whole round," he laughed.
