Jamie Bernhardt, Michael Norris are married in June 11 ceremony years ago
Jamie Renee Bernhardt and Michael Wright Norris were married in a five o'clock ceremony June 11 at Valley United Methodist Church, Marion.
Parents of the bride are Dennis and Donna Bernhardt of Marion. She is the granddaughter of Marvin and Helen Bernhardt and Don Berg, all of Marion, and the late Gerry Berg.
The groom is the son of Cathy and Mike Cazares of Overland Park and Charles Norris and Marella Briggs of Mechanicsville, Va. He is the grandson of Ron and Rosalie Cazares of Overland Park, Catherine Ragland, Susan Norris, and Elouise Briggs, all of Richmond, Va., and the late Wilson Sizer Ragland, Ravee Norris, and William Briggs.
Eighth Judicial District Court Judge Michael Powers officiated at the double ring ceremony.
The groom's uncle, Tom Boughner of Frederick, Md., was pianist. Steve Smith of Marion was vocalist.
Tapers were lighted by the groom's sister, Sarah Cazares of Overland Park and the bride's cousin, Jordan Harper of Marion.
Escorted down the aisle by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white satin strapless dress trimmed in pink featuring an empire waist and chapel-length train.
She carried a bouquet of pink and white roses with green accents.
Jessica Davis of Hutchinson was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's sister, Jessica Bernhardt and Amy Waner, both of Marion, Kayla Barrett of Topeka, and the groom's sister, Rachel Norris of Manhattan.
Her attendants wore floor-length pink satin strapless gowns that matched the trim on the wedding gown. They carried single white roses and greenery.
The bride's wedding gown and bridesmaids' dresses were made by the bride's grandmother, Helen Bernhardt.
Nathan Roberts of Leawood served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Paul Singh of Leawood, Josh Kropf of Kansas City, Mo., Kashan Javed of Lawrence, and the groom's brother, Willie Norris of Mechanicsville, Va.
The groom's cousin, Iliana Benjumea of Virginia Beach, Va., was the flower girl. Luke Dawson of Marion, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer. Assistants were the bride's cousins, Cheyenne and Colton Jeffrey of Marion.
Guests were seated by the bride's cousins, Chris and Kevin Bernhardt of Hillsboro and Clinton and Calvin Jeffrey of Marion and friends of the groom, Jay Bruner, Jake Albers, Sean Brooks, all of Leawood, and Jackson Holden of Overland Park.
Guest book attendants were the groom's sister, Becky Cazares of Overland Park and the bride's cousin, Jacob Harper of Marion.
Samantha Potter, cousin of the bride, of Wichita was in charge of gifts.
A reception was held in the church's fellowship hall following the ceremony.
Reception hosts were the bride's uncles and aunts, Brenda and Troy Dawson and Jim and Janet Herzet, all of Marion.
Reception attendants were Sue and Mandy Bernhardt, both of Hillsboro and aunt and cousin of the groom, Julie Schindler of Lawrence, and Laura Schindler of Denver, Colo.
A wedding dance was held at Hillsboro American Legion post.
The bride is a graduate of Marion High School and currently is attending Kansas State University pursuing a degree in elementary education. She is employed at Brenda's Bloomers and Gifts, Marion.
Her husband is a graduate of Blue Valley North High School, Overland Park, and received a bachelor of science degree in journalism and mass communications with a minor in African and African-American studies from the University of Kansas, Lawrence. He is the sports editor for the Marion County Record, Marion.
Following a wedding trip to San Francisco, Calif., the couple lives in Marion.
