Jenny and Aaron Acree are wed
Jenny Ann Groening and Aaron Mitchell Acree were married Dec. 21, 2002, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Mashburn officiating the double ring ceremony. Ceremony readers were the bride's cousins Leslie Helmer of Lawrence and Lauren Helmer of Andover.
The bride is the daughter of Gordon and Shirley Groening of Marion. Ken and Karen Price of Washington and Bill and Mary Beth Acree of Topeka are parents of the groom.
Honored guests were the bride's grandparents Jack and Sylvia Helmer of Marion and Irma Groening of Hillsboro and the groom's grandparents Elmer and Betty Zaboktrsky of Washington.
Candlelighters were the groom's cousins Addie Chapin of Lindsborg and Rahe Ann Chapin of Olathe.
Music was provided by organist/pianist Anita Brookens of Marion. Desiree Brown of Hoisington sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "Your Love." Mark and Sara Meisinger of rural Marion sang "The Gift" during the lighting of the unity candle.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a full-length, off-the-shoulder satin gown accented with lace and beads. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses with accents of navy flowers and navy and ivory ribbons.
Kristin Brenzikofer of Clay Center attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Alicia Schroeder of Olathe, Kim Mehuron of Wichita, and the bride's cousin Jami Helmer of Marion. They wore matching two-piece navy blue gowns. Each wore a necklace of ivory pearls and carried a bouquet of ivory roses.
Ring bearer was Chase Henton of Emporia. He carried a white satin heart-shaped pillow made by the bride's Grandmother Helmer.
Tara Henton of Emporia was the bride's personal attendant.
Luke Acree of Lawrence served his brother as best man. Brennen Acree, son of the groom, was honorary best man. Groomsmen were the groom's brother Caleb Acree of Topeka, the groom's cousin Nate Chapin of Sparks, Nev., and the bride's brother-in-law Matt Brenzikofer of Clay Center. They wore black tuxedos accented with navy blue ties and vests.
Guests were seated by the bride's cousins Justin and Ross Groening and Ray Helmer, all of Marion.
Guest book attendant was Tasha Becker of Lenexa. Gift attendants were the groom's stepsisters Abbi, Gina, and Maggie Moser of Topeka and the bride's cousins Wendy, Symba, and Colleen Steele of Marion,
Guests were greeted and ushered from the sanctuary by the bride and groom.
Hosts at the dinner reception which followed in the church's Wesley Hall were Jerry and Sherri Groening of Marion, Ken and Melinda Helmer of Andover, and Mark and Peg Chapin of Washington, aunts and uncles of the couple.
Reception assistants were Donna Kreutziger, Kim Kreutziger, Cherie Hett, Kathy Heiser, Sherry Kaufman, and Ann Carr. Servers were Carol and Alissa Vogel, Justin and Michael Brookens, Tyson and Justin Heidebrecht, Mollie and Darcie Mashburn, and Stephanie and Krista Heiser.
The bride is a 1996 graduate of Marion High School and a 2000 graduate of Emporia State University. She is employed by Salina public schools as a journalism teacher at Salina High School Central.
The groom is a 1991 graduate of Washington High School and a 1999 graduate of Fort Hays State University. Cloud County Community College employs him as head women's softball coach and intramural director.
Following a short honeymoon trip to Kansas City, the couple returned to enjoy Christmas with their families. They currently resided at 218 W. 17th Street, Concordia.
Rehearsal Dinner
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner and a time of fellowship Dec. 20 at the fellowship hall of the church.
Guests included members of the wedding party, special guests, and family members.
