Jim Gaffney
James R. "Jim" Gaffney, 55, formerly of Florence, died July 20, 2002, at the VA Medical Center, Leavenworth.
Born April 2, 1947, at Eureka, he was the son of Matthew and Annabelle L. (Ruby) Gaffney. He graduated from Florence High School in 1965 and served as an engineer during the Vietnam war, earning two combat stars and other awards. He was a member of the VFW and worked in construction.
He was married to Kathleen Henchek at Miami, Okla. She survives at their home in Leavenworth.
Other survivors include his mother; three stepchildren, Steven Henchek, Leavenworth, and Susan K. Dean and Sharon Henley, both of Lansing; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers; and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father and one great-grandson.
Services were Tuesday afternoon at the funeral chapel with burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
