Jirak leads CJHS boys to win over Wakefield
Playing Wakefield Thursday at Wakefield, the Centre Junior High boys defeated their opponent 49-27.
Seth Jirak scored a whopping 20 points, all from the field, including two three-pointers and seven two-pointers.
Lane Diepenbrock also was in double figures with 10 points.
Wakefield led 11-9 after the first quarter and was down by two at half-time, 19-21. They scored only four points in each of the remaining quarters, while Centre roared ahead, scoring 14 points in each. The final score was Centre 49, Wakefield 27.
Other scorers were Thieen Antoszyk, seven, and Kevin Mueller and Alfonse Klenda, six each.
The B team fell to Wakefield by a score of 20-45. They were outscored in every quarter except the last, in which each team scored 10 points.
Leading scorers were Phillip Griffith, eight points, and Michael Kaiser, four. Ethan Forsberg, Steve Antoszyk, Mathew Leach, and Tye Remy scored two points each.
CJHS vs. Marion
Marion Middle School boys ran over the Centre Junior High team defeating them handily. Marion led all the way with quarterly scores of 14-8, 24-9, 42-16, and 50-21.
Leading scorers for Marion were Jason Hett with 19 and Travis Hett with 15.
Seth Jirak led Centre scoring with 10 points. Lane Diepenbrock added five, Alfonse Klenda three, Kevin Mueller two, and Thien Antoszyk one.
Centre's B team also fell to Marion. The final score was 30-18. Centre's Phillip Griffith had 12 points. Steve Antoszyk added the other six.
Leading scorer for Marion was Bryce Suffield with eight points. Chase Carlson added four, and Jake Bredemeier, Austin Hager, and Justin Heidebrecht added two each.
