JV Warriors defeat Chase County
Marion High School junior varsity football team defeated Chase County Monday by the score of 18 to 6.
Casey Nelson ran 64 yards to open scoring with a touchdown. Chase County responded and tied the game at 6 to 6.
Right before the end of the first half, Tyson Heidebrecht intercepted a pass and returned the ball to the one-yard line. Tyler Stubenhofer scored on a quarterback sneak to put the Warriors ahead at halftime 12 to 6.
Defense dominated the game in the third quarter and most of the fourth, but Nelson scored a touchdown from two yards out to seal the win.
The JV travels to Council Grove Monday for a 6 p.m. game.
