Kathryn and Anthony Works are wed

Kathryn Sue Vantuyl and Anthony Joseph Works were married May 31, 2003, in the United Methodist Church at Humboldt. The Rev. Don Flanner performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mary O'Dell of Florence and the late Larry Vantuyl. The groom's parents are Joe and Janie Works of Humboldt.

Special guests at the wedding were the groom's grandmothers, Maxine Wollen of Ottawa and Jane Works of Humboldt.

Lighting the candles preceding the ceremony were the bride's nephews, Andrew Kelsey and Ethan Hett.

Attending the bride were her sisters, Lori Kelsey of Marquette, Diane Hett of Marion, and Jennifer Hesseltine of Stilwell. Junior bridesmaids were the bride's nieces, Emily Hett and Vanessa Vantuyl.

The groom's attendants included his sister Elizabeth Barlow of Trenton, Fla., and his brothers, James Works of Humboldt and Joshua Works of Manhattan.

Guests were seated by the bride's nephews, Michael Vantuyl, Mathew Vantuyl, and Jerry Kelsey.

Flower girls were Britnee Works, niece of the groom, and Brooke Hesseltine and Samantha Kelsey, nieces of the bride. Seth Barlow, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

Dick and Karen Works of Humboldt and Fred and Judy Works of Iola were coordinators for the reception which was held in the North Community Building in Iola. Hosts were Paolo and LoEtta Bowyer, Chris and Terry Butts, and David and Terry Boyles.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Marion High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of Kansas. She currently is working as a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

The groom is a 1992 graduate of Humboldt High School and a 1998 graduate of Kansas State University. He currently is pursuing a juris doctorate at the University of Kansas School of Law.

Following a honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple is at home in Lenexa.
