Kathy Hageman joins Hoch staff

Kathy Hageman, Abilene, has joined Hoch Publishing Co. as a reporter and photographer.

She will cover county news, Marion city activities, local school and sports news, and features.

She was born in Washington and raised in Herington and Abilene. Her parents are Dick and Mary Worley. Her father was with Federal Land Bank and often visited Marion County.

She graduated from Emporia State University in 1982 with a degree in education. She taught high school English for two years at Neodesha.

Kathy decided to pursue journalism after taking a job as proofreader and typesetter with the Larned Tiller and Toiler.

She later worked at the paper as a reporter, then worked for newspapers around the state, including the Osborne County Farmer, Winfield Daily Courier, Lincoln Sentinel-Republican, and Abilene Reflector-Chronicle.

She also served as editor of the Kansas Senior Times.

Her husband, Gary, works at Zeys Market and the Brookville Hotel in Abilene. They have a five-year-old son, Erik.
