Kiblinger to take over as superintendent at Centre

District will shift from

two administrators to one

The board of education of Centre Unified School District, at its regular monthly meeting Monday, approved a two-year contract with Robert L. Kiblinger.

In a related matter, the board approved a resolution to not renew the contract with high school principal Neal Weltha.

The actions reflect a change in policy from two administrators to one.

Kiblinger, who currently serves as principal at Council Grove High School, will take over July 1 from Superintendent Demitry Evancho, who is retiring.

Kiblinger will serve as superintendent of schools and K-12 principal. He will receive a salary of $80,000 per year.

His contract includes 15 days paid vacation leave, 10 days paid sick leave, and two days paid personal leave annually.

Kiblinger will reside in the district house at the high school site. He will be given moving expenses up to $2,000. He also will be provided use of a school vehicle for business travel only and will be reimbursed for business travel expenses as established in board policy.

Kiblinger is a 1971 graduate of Neodesha High School. In 1975, he received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Kansas State University. He later acquired a master's degree in educational administration and became certified in administration. He taught at Newton and Fredonia before going to Council Grove High School, where he has been employed as principal for the past five years.

According to Kiblinger, his goal is to facilitate student achievement and growth and support student and staff development for future successes.

"I bring a strong work ethic, enormous enthusiasm, a will to succeed, and a desire to continue to be involved in an educational setting," he said.
