Kiwanis inducts Holdeman as district official

Feebie Holdeman of Marion recently was inducted as Kiwanis lieutenant governor of division five at the 56th annual Kiwanis Kansas District convention at Junction City.

Holdeman will serve as adviser and mentor to Kiwanis clubs within the division from October 2006 to September 2007.

Division clubs are located in Marion, Hillsboro, Herington, Council Grove, Emporia, McPherson, and Lindsborg.

During the convention, the 350 attendees toured Fort Riley where they had an opportunity to see and experience hands-on training on tankers used for simulated training.

Club secretaries soon will be able to submit monthly reports via Internet instead of the traditional paper report.

Participants attended the Kiwanis Kansas District Governor's Banquet and square dance.

Holdeman represented the Marion Kiwanis Club as a voting member in the Kiwanis house of delegates.

Kiwanis International trustee Theodore Riesen of Bern-Aare, Steffisbury, Switzerland, also was in attendance at the convention.

The goal of Kiwanis International is for every club to expand membership with one new member per month.

"The ultimate goal is to have one million members — worldwide — by 2015," Holdeman said.

Kiwanis is an international service organization that serves children in local communities and in the world.
