Kristek, Burnett claim firsts at Bluestem meet
Centre High School track teams placed fourth April 11 in the Bluestem meet at Leon.
The small number of participants made it difficult to rack up points as a team, but numerous individual showings were good.
Jeremy Kristek placed first in the 200-meter run with a time of 24.03 seconds. He placed second in several events: high jump, five feet eight inches; long jump, 19-2; and the 100m run, 11.73.
Dustin Burnett also claimed a first, sprinting 400 meters in 55.5. He placed second in the 800m run with a time of 2:21.87.
The boys' team finished in fourth place with 63 points.
None of the girls experienced first-place finishes but they compiled several second-place finishes. Brittany Owens completed the 3200m run in 17:04.94. Krista Heiser was second in the 100m hurdles at 18.46 and in the 300m hurdles at 55.25.
Jenna Beneke threw the shot put 31-11. Jackie Klenda finished the 400m run in 1:07.94 and spanned the triple jump in 30-00.75.
The girls' team finished in fourth place with 58 points.
