Labor Day plans set at Burdick
The Burdick community invites the public to celebrate Labor Day there. Elaborate plans have been made for a three-day holiday weekend, Aug. 31 through Sept. 2.
A concession stand will be open during the softball tournament beginning Saturday morning.
Community church services will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, on the tennis courts, with Pastor Marilyn Cox officiating.
Softball will resume at 11 a.m. and a full evening of programs will be held starting at 7:30 p.m.
Lee Remy will serve as master of ceremonies. Patriotic and gospel music will be presented and home-made ice cream served.
Monday morning begins with a fun run, followed by a bake sale, rolls and coffee served, arts fair, concession stand, art display, and moon walk for kids.
Other events of the day include kids games from 10 to 11:30 a.m., dulcimer music from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m.; lunch served at noon by Centre FFA; Alex Stuchlik and family will provide musical entertainment at 12:30 p.m.; parade at 2, followed by the serving of ice cream, and pedal power competition at 3 p.m. on the tennis courts. A horseshoe contest will be held in the pits.
The festival is sponsored by Burdick Council of Clubs and the American Legion post.
