For a team as inexperienced as the Lady Cougars, it was difficult to come up against a strong 3A school like Southeast of Saline.
But that is what they had to do Nov. 30 in their first time on the court.
The girls dropped behind quickly, with a lot of intercepted passes, and trailed 20-5 after just one quarter. They were outscored by only one point in the second quarter, but a 11-19 third quarter widened the gap.
On good shooting by Kylie Burhoop and Shelby Deines, the Lady Cougars rallied in the fourth quarter to outscore SES 18-17, but the Lady Trojans won the game, 66-43.
Deines scored 15 points and Burhoop 14.
The junior varsity was defeated, 49-19. Leading scorers were Allison Shields, seven, and D.J. Turner, four.
