Lady Warriors move record to 12 wins years ago

Marion High School volleyball team moved its record to 12 wins and two losses Sept. 24 by defeating Herington in two matches.

The team has almost exceeded its win total from last year, when they had 13 victories. And they are undefeated in Cottonwood Valley League play.

The varsity squad defeated Herington 10-15, 15-11, 15-9 in the first match and 15-12, 15-9 in the second.

Junior varsity and freshmen squads won, too.

Coach Ginger Robert said the team is clicking in all areas, but the biggest advantage is in serves. The team serving percentage has consistently hovered in the high 90s.

"Our serving is a real plus for us," she said. "Against Herington, we only missed seven serves all night."

Individual leaders included Ashlee Moore, who went 24 of 24 serving, and Heidi Zogelman, who was good on 23 serves and had three aces.

Brandi Peterie had 15 kills. Emmy Bowers had 11.

Krista Zogelman had 16 blocks for the night.
