Lady Warriors place second in tournament
Marion High School Lady Warriors hosted a junior varsity volleyball tournament Saturday and Marion #1 took second place.
Marion #1 played five teams and won four of the matches. In the match-up against Peabody, Marion #1 won 25-12 and 25-15.
They played Abilene, winning 25-15 and 28-26. In the game against Marion #2, Marion #1 came out on top, winning 25-14 and 25-15. Remington lost to Marion #1 with scores of 25-17 and 25-22. McPherson handed Marion #1 their only loss, 21-25 and 17-25.
Team members were Katie Zogelman, Chelsi Carlson, Sarah Williams, Allison Maddox, Amber Richmond, Emalee Versch, Toni Gordon, Molly Rhodes, and Erin Richmond.
Marion #2 was defeated by Abilene, 17-25 and 22-25. They won their match against Peabody, 25-17, 19-25, and 15-10.
Team members were Erica Geis, Desirae Depler, Sonja Steinborn, Kari Tajchman, Morgan Cady, Jenna Parli, Jandee Sharp, Adrienne Chamberland, Kara Holt, Erin Carr, Alyssa Seacat, and Alycia Pontious.
Toni Gordon and Amber Richmond were named to the all-tournament team. Richmond also was named most valuable player (MVP) for the tournament.
