Lady Warriors trounce Cougars

Neighboring Marion County girls basketball teams went head-to-head Feb. 4 in Marion. Marion Lady Warriors defeated the Centre Lady Cougars, 68-37.

"I thought we played well. We shot well, and had some good pressure defense through the game " commented Marion Coach Daryl Enos. "We were a little ragged on our fast break at times, but overall it was a well-balanced game."

"One quarter was pretty close," Enos said speaking of the meeting with the Centre girls. "It wasn't an easy win. They just don't have the depth we do."

From the beginning Centre had trouble defending against Marion and getting inside to the basket.

Marion shot 41 percent from the field compared to 30 percent by Centre. Some of Marion's points came from three-point shots by Heidi and Krista Zogelman, five in all.

Marion's team scoring was led by Krista Zogelman with 21. Emmy Bowers led the way in rebounds with 10.

Laura Klenda led Centre offensively and defensively with 15 points and 13 rebounds. She also blocked the ball four times and stole it three times.
