Lady Warriors win over Herington

Warriors win the game in spite of 'lousy' play

They may have lacked focus, but the Marion High School girls basketball team still came home with a win Friday night after defeating Herington, 39-34.

"Basically, we played lousy," said head coach Daryl Enos. "We only shot 24 percent from the field and we were under 50 percent at the free throw line.

"But we won the ball game."

On the positive side, the girls had 13 steals in the game with 10 in the first half.

"But we only had 21 points. With that many steals, we should have had more points than that," the coach said. "We just didn't execute."

Senior Megan Moore, who has seen little play time this year, put in a good effort, the coach said.

"She was a bright spot for us. She hasn't seen the floor much this year, and it was my goal to get her in the game. It was a critical time and she stepped in for us," Enos said.

The girls were set to meet Wichita Trinity Tuesday night and Wichita Collegiate Friday.

"Trinity beat Collegiate last week and Collegiate has a 6 foot, 2-inch girl and we'll have to deal with that," Enos said. "But if we're a little more focused, we should do well."
