Lady Wildcats participate in CVJL tournament

aMarion Middle School Lady Wildcats participated Oct. 20 in the Cottonwood Valley Junior League tournament at Herington.

They came out behind opponents Chase County, Wichita Independent, and Council Grove but defeated Herington.

Marion was defeated by Chase County, 19-25 and 12-25.

Kristin Waner made 10 serves. Kimber Hardey had six serves and Lanna Carroll had four. Carroll and Christie Coleman each had six sets. Carroll also had five spikes. Lauren Helmer and Waner each had two spikes. Carroll had one block.

Marion lost to Wichita Independent, 5-25 and 13-25. Helmer and Austin Percell each had four serves. Hardey had three serves and Coleman had two. Coleman also had eight sets. Carroll had five and Hardey had two. Carroll had five spikes and Hardey had three. Percell had two spikes and Helmer and Erika Riggs each had one.

Marion was defeated by Council Grove, 22-25 and 10-25. Coleman and Waner each made six serves. Percell and Carroll each recorded five. Hardey and Helmer had two apiece. Carroll had 10 sets and Coleman had seven. Waner had one set. Hardey had five spikes, Helmer had three, Percell and Riggs each had two. Audra Allen and Coleman each had one spike.

Marion defeated Herington in three games, 25-25, 6-25, and 15-7. Allen made nine serves. Helmer made eight. Lizzy Covarrubias made seven serves and Carroll had six. Coleman made four serves and Waner three. Tacy Taylor made two serves and Hardey made one. Coleman had seven sets and Carroll recorded two. Hardey also had one set. Percell had four spikes. Megan Schmidt and Hardey each had three spikes. Allen and Carroll had two spikes each. Helmer, Riggs, and Taylor each had one.
