Lake misses out on rain

Mother's Day weekend turned out to be beautiful. We had several campers out and lots of fishermen. No picture-taking fish were brought in, but several reported catching fish.
Crappie still are slow, but they are catching a few off of the heated dock now and then. Around the lake, they are catching channel cat, some nice drum, walleye, saugeye, wipers, and once in a while a crappie. No one can seem to find the elusive crappie yet.
Channel are biting on liver, dip bait, and worms. The bigger wipers have been caught on lures, but some have been taken on liver with a bobber, not fishing on bottom. The boat bass fishermen reported catching several smaller bass, all taken on lures, and some walleye. The biggest this week was around four pounds.
It was a wild week with all the bad weather around. All the storms seemed to form right over us, then move on to the east, which was fine with me! We were called two different nights from the sheriff's office about warnings, but thank goodness nothing came through here. We would get up, turn on the TV to see where they were and what the radar showed.
Early Friday morning, the TV showed a tornado or strong rotation right over Wonsevu. So, at 3 a.m., we drove out there to see if our house still was there. It was. Burns had a little damage and that was close enough. Hope this week is quieter.
Sunday afternoon, Leann and Kiana Lewman, Karly and Molly Hess and I attended a dance recital in Hillsboro. We went especially to watch Tristen Snelling. After the recital we had a Mother's Day supper which the Lewmans had brought, Dean Snelling also joined us.
