Lake: Weather cooperates for Art in the Park

What a beautiful day it was for Art in the Park! The weather cooperated and the crowds looked great and everyone looked like they were having a good time and buying something. The food court was packed around noon, the lines were long, and the food was good. We had several venders camped out here as well as people camping here just to go to both Marion and Hillsboro. Some of our campers were from Missouri, Idaho, Oklahoma, Florida, and Colorado. The people from Idaho were just coming through and asked what was going on in Marion. I told them and they stayed two nights instead of one just so they could go to Art in the Park.
We had several fishermen on Saturday. The guys go fishing while the girls go shopping. (Sounds like a good deal to me.) Fishing wasn't too bad over the weekend. Several nice bass were taken along with some drum, walleye, a couple of smaller wipers, and the heated dock produced some nicer crappie and channel cat. The recent rains have raised the lake but didn't muddy it up. We are still running out the overflow tower windows by a couple of inches.
My sister and husband, Genie and Ed Prothman from Breckenridge, Mo., came Wednesday and returned home Sunday. They came especially for Art in the Park and Hillsboro Arts & Crafts on Saturday. Sonie Rust from Rose Hill and Cathy Silhan from Salina also came to go with us. We started out early Saturday morning in Marion, ate lunch in the park, then went to Hillsboro. By four in the afternoon everything started to look alike and we were all getting tired so we called it quits and came home to sit on the patio and think about what we had seen and what we should have bought.
Other visitors at our house over the weekend were, Mark, Leann, Kiana, and Levi Lewman of Sedgwick, Dean Snelling of Goessel, Dan, Tam, Tristen, and Seth Snelling, Sherry, Lynn, Karly, Molly, and Emmy Hess. They all came to see their Aunt Genie and Uncle Ed.
Both ends of the hall were used on Sunday for family reunions. The Hassmans used one end and the Fosdicks used the other.
See you this weekend at Old Settlers' Day!
