Lake: Weather is beautiful for Art in the Park

What a beautiful weekend for Art in the Park. It couldn't have been a nicer day. It looked like a full crowd to me. My niece from Salina, Cathy Silhan, came down and went with us. We looked and looked, did a little buying and eating, then went home to rest. Our campground was full — we couldn't squeeze another one in. We had two small camping groups, the Roving Good Sams and the Good Sams 4 Squares. They came especially for the Art in the Park. We also had some vendors who came for Art in the Park and just some plain campers.

I was gone all last week visiting my sister in Breckenridge, Mo. They've had a lot more rain up there and it is a lot greener. The fields and ditches are covered with sunflowers and goldenrod. It sure did look pretty, but didn't do a thing for my nose!! I couldn't go out without taking my allergy pills. The Monarchs were flying through while I was there, but wouldn't you know, I forgot to take my tags. They were flying here Saturday and Sunday, but were flying high and fast. Maybe I'll get some this week.

We had several fishermen out over the weekend. Most of them fished for channel cat, and they caught some nice ones. The bass fishermen did pretty good early in the mornings. Several two to three pound'ers were caught. Crappie still are not biting too good. Everyday we hope they will pick up in the heated dock, but not yet.

The Good Sams used the hall several evenings while they were here and the Williams family used the hall on Sunday. This week we have a cross country meet out here on Thursday and Old Settlers' on Saturday. See you there!
