Lange installed as pastor of Presbyterian church
Church members, friends of the community, relatives, and representatives of the Presbytery of Southern Kansas celebrated a memorable service Sunday as the Rev. Jeremiah Lange was installed as the new pastor at Marion Presbyterian Church.
Laura Williams, church organist, played several prelude selections with services beginning at 5 p.m.
The Rev. Benjamin Ray, minister of First Presbyterian Church in Derby, led the congregation in the call to worship.
The Rev. Christopher Davis, minister of Forest Park Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson, delivered the pastoral prayer and the Lord's Prayer.
The Rev. Keith Allison delivered the afternoon's sermon, "Hitcher to the Lord has Helped Us."
Dwight Beckham's trumpet solo, "My Spirit Be Joyful," delighted the congregation.
The men's chorus sang two sections of "Just A Closer Walk With Thee," and "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus."
The Rev. Melissa Ramos, associate pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wichita, led the responsive reading.
Jeremiah Lange's father, Mike Lange, delivered greetings from Jeremiah's home church in Tucson, Ariz.
Donna Hajek, chairman of the pastor nominating committee, presented Lange to the congregation for installation.
Dr. Don Owens of Wichita and past moderator of the Presbytery of Southern Kansas presided over the official installation in the absence of Bill Ward, current moderator.
Jim Assink, clerk of session, assisted with the installation.
A reception followed with a light buffet, cake, and punch.
Janis Maggard, chairman of the worship committee, presented a white clerical stole to Jeremiah as a gift from his parishioners.
