Lawrence Czarnowsky
Lawrence W. Czarnowsky, 94, life long resident of the Herington area, died Feb. 25, 2002, at the Lutheran Care Home, Herington. He was born Aug. 8, 1907, in Herington, the son of Bernard O. and Ottilie (Brehmer) Czarnowsky.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington, with the Rev. K.C. Dehning officiating. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Czarnowsky was a farmer. He also worked at Fort Riley and was an oil field worker.
He and his brother, Melvin, owned and operated the billiard hall in Herington for many years. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington.
Czarnowsky married Esther Kandt June 15, 1936, at Clay Center. She survives of Herington. He also is survived by a daughter Dorothy Timm and husband Lester of Salina; two sons, Donald and wife Ellen of Sun City, Ariz., and Glen and wife Darlene of Lincolnville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Melvin Czarnowsky Jan. 20, 1969, and by his parents.
