Lawrence Rabon
Lawrence C. "Cal" Rabon Sr., 79, of Lincolnville, died April 4, 2005, at Kansas City Presbyterian Manor, where he had been a resident since February.
Born Dec. 16, 1925, at Kansas City, he was the son of Rufus and Georgia (Watson) Rabon.
He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1943 and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
On June 16, 1947, he married C. Eldora Wilmot at Des Moines, Iowa.
He worked for General Motors' Fairfax Plant in Kansas City for 30 years. He was a member of UAW Local #31 of Kansas City and enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Kansas City area nursing homes, giving out candy and flowers.
He and his wife moved to Lincolnville in 1986 and he continued playing Santa Claus in the Herington and Marion areas.
Survivors include his wife, C. Eldora of Lincolnville; three sons, Jack Rabon of Kansas City, Lawrence Rabon Jr., of Hendersonville, N.C., and David Rabon of O'Fallon, Mo.; and a sister, Auretta Lytle of Kansas City.
A private funeral service was held and inurnment was in Fort Leavenworth Cemetery.
Memorial funds have been established with Dickinson County Hospice or Odyssey Healthcare Hospice, Kansas City.
