Lee Westhafer

Lee Robert Westhafer, 80, of Marion died June 30, 2002.

Born Oct. 27, 1921, on a farm near Oskaloosa, he was the son of Charles Edwin and Fern (Bourm) Westhafer.

On June 4, 1944, he married Evelyn Brosch in New York City. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1985. He married LaDonna Ewert on May 10, 1986, in Marion.

He was a retired truck driver, law enforcement officer and county worker. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting race car driving and traveling with his family.

He was a member of Valley United Methodist Church in Marion, American Legion Post 366 in Hillsboro for 44 years, the VFW in Marion for eight years and past post commander of both.

Survivors include his wife of the home; children, Lorraine (Rani) and husband Chuck Rivas of Wichita, Thomas Westhafer and wife Jolene of Park City, Luanne and husband Terry Soukup of Goessel, Terri Rall of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Michael Ewert and wife Melody and Patrice and Ronald McHenry all of Wichita; half-brothers, David Brown and wife Ledia of Paola and Robert Brown and wife Donna of Perry; half-sister, Margaret and husband Herbert Haynes of Oskaloosa; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday night at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion. Burial will be at Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Hillsboro.

A memorial has been established for ViaChristi St. Joseph Inn in Wichita.
