Lenora McLinden
Lenora A. McLinden, 80, died March 28, at her home in Newton.
Born May 12, 1923, at Marion, she was the daughter of Robert and Annie (Richmond) Waner.
At the time of her birth, the family lived north of Peabody. They later moved to Florence where she attended school and church. She graduated from high school at Florence.
In 1944, she married James McLinden at Florence. The couple lived on a farm for some years and later moved into Florence. He died in 1977.
She worked as a teller at Florence State Bank until her retirement. She moved in 1988 to Newton, where she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, James McLinden of Iowa City, Iowa; two daughters, Anna Baxter of Centennial, Colo., and Pat Hargrave of Lenexa; a brother, Robert Waner of Wichita; six sisters, Mary Jo Fiest of Wakita, Okla., Mildred Ball of Hutchinson, Lucy Miller, Sister Madeline Waner, and Sister Teresa Waner, all of Wichita, and Sister Clarita Waner of Ponca City, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
The rosary was recited Thursday evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton.
The funeral Mass was Friday morning at the church with Father John Hotze as celebrant.
Burial was at Cedar Point Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Kevin Hargrave, Howard Shaft, Paul David Miller, Craig Waner, Jerry Siebert, and Pat Eye.
A memorial fund has been established with the Kansas Crippled Children's Fund.
