Letter: Customer is unhappy

To the Editor:

This is a complaint against a business in our little town of Marion.

Last week I needed repairs for our two bathrooms that I could repair myself.

I purchased these items at a local store and paid cash for them. I brought them home, repaired one, and when I went to repair the other one the brass rod was a quarter inch too short. I put it back in the original package along with the cash receipt and returned it to the store. I was told they could not take it back because it had been opened.

How in the world would anyone know if it would work without opening the package and trying it? The rod was not harmed.

This same store, same person, was very rude earlier this summer. I went in to look for hangers for flower baskets to hang on my patio. Instead of helping me, I was told "they are over there somewhere, if we have any," and with a wave of her hand in the general direction. There was only one other person in the store and they were visiting, she had already made her purchases.

I have made purchases at Alco and Wal-Mart and have no trouble returning items if they do not work and no questions asked. I for one will never buy anything from this store again.

Most everyone in business is friendly and helpful not rude.

Then people wonder why you go out of town to shop.

Rude, Rude, Rude!

Vernolis Siebert,

Marion

Editor's Note: The store was not identified. There are several stores in Marion which sell that type of merchandise.
