LETTERS: Burnout not noticed
To the Editor:
Since reading last week's paper I've been curious as to why you would print the email from Blaze?
I agree with your normal policy of not publishing anonymous letters, but more importantly I take exception to the content.
The "old editor" and I have certainly not been on the same side of all issues over the years; the Florence school issue was the worst, but even then I knew you were working for the good of your community.
In contrast with Blaze I have found you to be a formidable proponent for Marion, Marion County, our state, and our country, and I thank you for your service to all. I am pleased to say I have enjoyed being on the same side as you on the vast majority of issues; but, I also appreciate your opinion even when mine is different.
I can't help but think that most readers would agree with me in asking you to disregard comments by a vocal minority, and those who refuse to put their name on their comments. You and Joan have been a strong, positive force in this community and, in my opinion, your emailer hasn't a clue as to what a positive community stance would be.
Regardless of issue position, I defy any reasonable reader to view your positions on recent issues and at the same time talk about "burnout." The kind of passion you display is a long way from burnout of any kind!
I say, consider the sources and just keep publishing the best weekly newspaper around. If Blaze has been in the community for "twenty years" he/she must have been asleep!
