LETTERS: CCC letter appreciated
To the Editor:
I want to let you know how much the article of March 3 about the CCCs meant to me. When I realized it was written by my brother, Charles Mersereau, my heart skipped a beat. The CCCs did so much good during the Depression.
One irony is, Park Rapids, Minn., was his first assignment and he is living in a nursing home in Park Rapids now. He always loved baseball and the outdoors, so he made Minnesota his home after his duty ended.
He will be 90 years of age on March 25. I will be sending him this article and hope it will bring back fond memories. Marion is our hometown and we love it.
Thanks again.
