LETTERS: Clarification
To the Editor:
On April 19, Lt. Col Gary L. Brickler's name was placed on the banner at the park.
I, too, took note of Matt Classen's casual comments that the war had not changed his routine. Perhaps our daily activities were not affected, but it does alter the state of mind with the known and unknown factors of war.
The known factor was that Lt. Col. Brickler, U.S. Army, was convoying with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Forces on the march to Baghdad. The unknown plays with your mind.
Those at home continue to deal with everyday issues — the job, single parenting, household matters, business affairs, etc.
Both those in the military and at home have earned our pride and support. Lt. Col. Brickler is married to our daughter, Susan; thus my son-in-law.
