LETTERS: Greedy government

To the Editor:

The letter from Anton Epp brought out a lot of truth about our public education system. When government is involved, what do we expect? We get what we ask for. When a government takes away from a man the right to provide and think for himself, he is nothing.

Like everyone else, I paid my property taxes Monday, 40 days earlier than usual. Remember, when we paid our taxes, it was to benefit all those wonderful servants who feast at their table, and we get the soup! I'm reminded of the man who sold his birthright for a pot of soup!

How arrogant to present itself as being generous when it is using the people's money. Every grant, every subsidy, every expenditure is at the people's expense. It's the people's generosity!

Government always takes more than it gives. That is our end!
