LETTERS: Help!

To the Editor:

Marion Senior Center is in need of 10 to 15 more 60 or older seniors to eat at the center or we may face the close of it or have to find someone else to cook the meals and bring it to the center in steam pots.

The state thinks one person can cook for 70 people by themselves. Would you want to do that? They will only pay for one person unless we get more people to eat there, then they will pay for another.

Men, why don't you tell your wives to forget the worry of shopping, cooking, and doing dishes and let's go to the center for dinner. Or, ladies, why don't you say "I'm not cooking anymore, I'm going to the center. If you want something to eat, come with me." Where can you get a full balanced meal for $2.50 and not have to fix it? You also get fellowship, hear what children, grandchildren, and friends are doing. Some days there is entertainment, sing-alongs, or hear of trips someone has taken. Or you might hear of a trip we are going to take.

This is not welfare. You don't have to dress up. Just wash your face and hands — you would do that at home anyway — and come on down. We're a fun loving bunch. Call 382-2942 and say "I'll see you for dinner."
