LETTERS: It was a pleasure
To the Editor:
On Saturday we had the pleasure and privilege to be a part of an extraordinary event that showcased the talents of our youth of Marion.
Our own MHS Singers performed a concert at the Kansas Music Educators Association State Convention at Century II in Wichita.
They were one of only four high school choirs chosen to perform at this convention. From the first note that came from their voices, it was evident that this concert was special.
All of their hard work preparing for this event paid big rewards, as their selections were met with cheers, tears, and long rounds of applause.
At the conclusion of the last song, the group received a well-deserved standing ovation that lasted several minutes.
We are so proud of our young people in Marion, and this concert just reinforces the notion that with hard work, dedication, and a passion for something, even lofty dreams can be realized.
Thanks to Mr. White and Mrs. Brookens for their commitment to quality in the vocal music program at MHS, and thanks to the kids who dedicated their time to achieve this high honor. Once again, our young people have reminded us that they can achieve success and help make Marion the "best place we've seen."
