LETTERS: Jill Fenske

To the Editor:

As a student in a local high school, I am constantly reminded of budget problems that we are facing. Everyday we are reminded to think of ways to help save money within our schools. Also, we know that our government is lacking in funds just as our school is lacking in funds.

All of this makes us look at what our government is really spending money on. While sitting in my study hall, I looked outside to see several police vehicles. These vehicles were setting up for an assembly we were to have that day. This struck me as odd, because several of these vehicles were new.

It confuses me that our schools do not have money to pay our teachers adequately, but our county can buy new SUVs and trucks to replace vehicles that most likely could still be of good use.

Yes law enforcement needs adequate vehicles, but just as important, students also need adequate educations.
