LETTERS: Knit a sweater for charity

To the Editor:

As a 4-Her in the knitting project, I would like to inform the local community of an opportunity to help people across the world. This charitable mission, designed to clothe needy children, is called the Guidepost Magazine Sweater Project.

Guidepost Magazine developed a very simple children's sweater pattern for both knitting and crocheting. People across the U.S. are making these sweaters, then sending them to Guidepost. They distribute them to disadvantaged children throughout the world, from Africa to Harlem. I would like to encourage anyone with knitting or crocheting skills to make this sweater. I would be happy to send the finished product to Guidepost.

To get a copy of the pattern, you can call me at (620)382-8842. You also can contact the Marion County Extension Office in Marion.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!
