LETTERS: Non-binding, both ways

To the Editor:

Although we live at the Marion County Lake, we feel what happens in the town of Marion still concerns us.

This is where we shop, where the schools and churches are located, and also where many of our acquaintances live.

So sorry to read about the confrontation at the most recent city commission meetings (March 18 and 25), it should not have happened. The mayor certainly did not deserve it or any of the city commission. They did what was set out to do, by having a non-binding election, and this is where it should have ended, leaving further decisions decided by the commissioners.

Non-binding should mean what it says, and asking the commission to make it binding should not have happened. Those who oppose this view are showing their unwarranted mistrust of the majority of the commission.
