LETTERS: Recycling offered
To the Editor:
Many residents of Marion and the surrounding area who participated in the Recycling Program were certainly disappointed in the action taken by Marion City Commission to stop the program.
Rural residents paid a recycling fee, purchased blue bags, and then dropped off recyclable items along with many city residents.
We are pleased to offer a curbside recycling program beginning Wednesday. This will be available to everyone in the city of Marion as well as rural residents in the area. All of the materials previously accepted will be picked up and taken to a recycling facility in Hutchinson where they will be sorted and baled for final marketing. Nothing will be taken to a landfill.
