LETTERS: Sklenar's letter makes sense

To the Editor:

First of all, "hooray" to Joe Sklenar for his "What a switch" letter in last week's paper. I'm not acquainted with Mr. Sklenar, but I would sure be proud to shake his hand and pat him on the back if he would walk up to me and say, "I'm Joe."

Now a question to Jami Williams. I see where one of our local businesses received a $5,000 grant to upgrade to a new computer system to run his business.

Does a government grant have a maturity date with a low rate of interest of four percent as the Farmers Home Administration had when I started farming and ranching?

In the Jan. 31 issue of the "Ol' Thing," as friend Bill called it, was a very nice write-up about a young Rick LaShure needing a larger working area and a lift. What about the building just across the street? It used to have a lift and it certainly has more work area.

The grant that was given to the last business to stock their shelves with tobacco products is no longer there. So maybe a legitimate business might be able to make a go of it with a little government help.

We certainly need another mechanical shop in Marion that would work on small jobs such as lawn mowers, etc.
