LETTERS: Thanks for the help
To the Editor:
We want to thank the four Schrader women of Herington and Patrolman Roger Maag of Marion. They were much welcomed and needed Good Samaritans last Saturday night.
We were traveling home from the K-State football game and had just passed through a heavy downpour that was trying to turn to sleet. The car began steering strangely and the first thought was that it was due to the road conditions. It quickly became obvious that it was a flat tire.
The night was dark and the traffic was heavy and we drove off into the ditch for a safe place to change it. Under the best of conditions, it would have been a difficult place to change a tire.
As we struggled in the dark, the Schraders had passed us and turned around to come to offer aid. Their headlights provided needed light and they traveled to a nearby farm to get boards to put under the jack that kept slipping in the mud.
Soon Officer Maag arrived to assist and they all stayed with us through the difficult hour and a half's effort to get the tire changed.
We were grateful when it was accomplished and even more grateful for these wonderful Good Samaritans.
