Vajnar commended

To the Editor:

I wish to congratulate Jane Vajnar on her editorial that appeared in the Marion County Record April 26.

Regardless of whether one agrees with Jane's opinion or not, one must admire her command of the English language. Her use of our language equals or surpasses that of some articles that appear in The New York Times or Time magazine or like publications that I read.

I know Jane was a school teacher at one time. From reading her editorial, I would presume that one of the subjects she taught was English. Her former students should be very proud of her, and they should have learned a lot from her.

Congratulations Jane, on a well-written editorial.

Jane stated the dispute well, and she took an explicit position.

Jane reminds me a lot of my English/Latin/grammar/literature/algebra teacher, Alice Noone, who taught at Tampa High School in the 1920s and 1930s.

Brazils will be missed

To the Editor:

Progressive and thinking residents of Marion County will long regret the loss of David and Joanna Brazil's professionalism and leadership energy. Both of them in their diverse roles in the community have demonstrated dedication and respect for concepts that benefited the citizenry throughout Marion County.

Having been connected with Marion County for 60 years, my observations of hired and volunteer leaders have provided considerable opportunities to evaluate those individuals who uphold the professional and ethical qualities that are essential for working with the public.

My contacts with David in a construction issue were handled with efficiency, proper guidance, and professional proficiency. It has been regrettable to view from the sidelines the contentious, micro-managed issues that have been the test of David's professional responsibilities to all Marion County residents.

The years of enjoying Joanna's energy and enthusiasm as Peabody's Main Street director make the future without her sound dull and boring.

I am not alone, Joanna and David, in knowing how fortunate your next community is to have your care and dedication. Best wishes! You will be missed.
