LETTERS: Walk, run for a cure
To the Editor:
The first annual Head for the Cure 5K Run and Walk will be Oct. 12 at Overland Park, in memory of our 37-year-old son-in-law, Chris Anthony, Leawood. He battled brain cancer for two years, four months.
The event benefits the Chris Anthony Brain Tumor Research Fund, which is helping those who are now fighting for their lives against brain cancer and for those who will in the future.
Details of Chris' spirited battle and race information, including registration and donations, can be found on the web site: www.headforthecure.org.
In 1988 after the Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge burned, I wrote a letter to the editors across Kansas talking about the deeds of Kansas Mennonites and challenging Kansans to contribute to the church's rebuilding. Your response was overwhelming. I hope so again.
If you know of someone who has had or has brain cancer, you know the cures are few. So if you can't run or walk for this cause you can help others by sending a donation to the Chris Anthony Head for the Cure 5K Fund, % Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, 1055 Broadway, Suite 130, Kansas City MO 64105.
