Library in final stretch to raise matching funds
Marion City Library has raised $146,000 toward the renovation of the former Santa Fe Depot.
Less than $10,000 is needed to provide the full matching fund amount required by the grant.
In addition to memorial bricks, the library will have plaques to honor those who contributed additional money to the project.
Plaque sizes will be determined based on level of contribution. They are $50-$99, $100-$499, $500-$999, $1,000-$4,999, $5,000-$9,999, and $10,000 and higher.
Donations will continue to be accepted, but most plaques will be ordered soon so they can be installed in time for the dedication ceremony later this year.
Donations may be sent to Marion City Library in care of the City of Marion.
Aid Association of Lutherans No. 2798 and library friends will hold a soup supper at 5 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Free will donations will be accepted, with proceeds going to the library project.
