Lincolnville farmer seriously injured in pasture accident
Caroll Shields of Lincolnville received serious injuries Sunday morning while herding cattle with an ATV four-wheeler. The accident happened east of his homestead northeast of Lincolnville on 300th Street.
According to his brother-in-law Ronnie Carlson, Shields and other members of his family were rounding up cattle that had gotten out, to return them to their pasture.
Carlson said there were no witnesses to the accident, so no one knows for sure what happened. Shields was found by family members near his tipped-over four-wheeler.
Lincolnville first responders and a Marion ambulance rushed to the scene. A medical helicopter was called and Shields was flown directly from the spot to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Carlson said Shields suffered a serious neck injury but the extent of the damage is not yet known.
Shields and his wife Kim have five children ranging in age from 16 to five.
