Treasurer Don Buethe reported to Lincolnville City Council Monday that $20,401.73 of the $60,338 budgeted for 2003 remains in the general fund.

He advised the city make no additional major expenditures until December, when the remaining balance will be known.

Purchase of a pruning saw and welder was tabled until the December meeting.

Buethe said the city has more cash on hand than was budgeted for, so it will have a good amount to roll over into the next year.

Total cash on hand Oct. 31, including the community building savings account, was $68,690.95. The street overlay project which is expected to be done this month will cost more than $27,000.

Clerk Jane Pigorsch reported mailing sewer billings totaling $1,534.30 — $841.68 delinquent and $792.62 current.

She said the community building has been rented for three days in November. A tool sale is scheduled for Jan. 8.

Celebrations chairman Karen Hurt announced the annual Christmas party will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 20.

It was reported the new Lincolnville welcome signs have been completed. They were created by Brian and Denise Klein. The council needs to get permits from the state before the signs can be installed at the north and south entrances to the town.

According to Councilman David Schneider, the volunteer list for construction of a new community building is almost complete. The list will be taken to Topeka for approval and is the final step in the process of receiving a Kan-Step grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing.

If the list is approved, a public meeting will be held at Lincolnville. KDCH representatives will be present to explain how the Kan-Step grant will be administered.

As reported previously, the grant provides money for building materials while the community provides labor, equipment, and other resources.
