Lions Club inducts new member
Lions District Governor Greg A. Moser, of Holton was the guest of honor at the March 13 meeting of Marion Lions Club. Eleven members and one guest were present.
After the meal, Moser installed Stan Ploutz as a new member of the club. Ploutz is principal of Marion Elementary School.
The district governor talked on the many activities of the district and Lions Club International.
Last year the Lions Club established the first two clubs in China. He also explained how local clubs can receive funds from Lions International to be used to aid victims of local disasters.
Last year Kansas clubs collected 5,000 pairs of glasses statewide to be donated to Lions International to be used in worldwide aid to those who need glasses.
He also noted that Kansas has produced three International Lions Club presidents.
Other business discussed included the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt April 19 in Central Park. Also discussed was the annual car show to be held May 3 in Central Park. This year's show will feature a bus offering free health screenings to car show goers and to the general public at no cost.
