Little River Band scheduled for Chingawassa Days
Little River Band is coming to Marion.
The Chingawassa Days Steering Committee made the announcement Tuesday that Little River Band is scheduled to perform as the headliner act June 5 during the annual festival.
The popular band had been requested as the Saturday evening headliner for the past several years, said Mike Powers, committee vice chairman and coordinator of the Saturday evening concert. Due to scheduling conflicts, the committee was unable to book the sought-after band until this year.
"The committee is thrilled to finally get them," added Powers.
LRB released its first album in 1975 and has had 22 albums released with 13 "top 40" singles, and 10 "top 10" hits. They have sold over 20 million albums worldwide.
The band's greatest hits are "Reminiscing," "Help Is On The Way." "Lady," "Cool Change," "Happy Anniversary," "Man On Your Mind," "Lonesome Loser," "Take It Easy On Me," "Night Owls," and "The Other Guy."
The Australian band is well-known for its versatility as a pop/soft rock band.
In July 2002, LRB recorded and released a live CD "One Night In Mississippi," reaching number one on the New Zealand charts.
Celebrating 29 years as a musical icon, the band currently is recording a studio CD to be released this year.
The Chingawassa Days Committee is in the process of negotiating a "high-energy, entertaining, opening act," added Powers.
The annual festival is June 4, 5, and 6 in Marion's Central Park.
