Week of July 20-26

Church services were conducted Sunday by Valley United Methodist Church.

Bus trips in the mini van consumed the day Monday. At 4:30 May Hebrank led group exercises.

Balloon ball exercises were held Tuesday morning. In the afternoon Dick Pracht led the prayer group. The Davidson girls gave a piano program.

"Pretty Up" was held Wednesday morning. Cyril Reznicek's family brought birthday cake Wednesday afternoon to help celebrate his 90th birthday. His daughters, granddaughters, and baby great-grandson attended. The residents gathered to help him celebrate.

Residents enjoyed an hour of hymn singing Thursday morning with David and Shirley Bowers.

Right after dinner, story time and a popcorn party was held. Khrista Branson read the Marion County Record while we ate popcorn.

Peanut butter cookies were made Friday morning. Hot cookies and coffee were enjoyed. The afternoon was spent playing Bingo.

The weather is so nice in the evenings, many of the residents sit outside watching the traffic go by, then the sunset.

I don't know if it's the weather or old age but everyone loves to sleep a lot. It sure is blissful pleasure.

Many residents have lots of visitors. We enjoy seeing family and friends. We are very secure here. We have such wonderful care. Some read a lot, some watch TV, or listen to the radio. Some wheelchair patients just enjoy wheeling up and down the halls.

Week of July 13-19

Church services were conducted by the Rev. Rick Branson. Ruth Kistle played the piano. Khrista and Rick brought a little friend, seven-year-old Allison Lyon, who sang a solo unaccompanied. She has a beautiful voice for one so young. She has a great, promising future.

Ellen Darrow played many old songs and hymns Monday. We enjoy her piano music.

Ben Leppke played the piano Tuesday morning. He is a very talented youth. Most of his program consisted of numbers he wrote and played by memory. They were beautiful and he will only be a freshman in high school this fall. He also has a great future in music.

In the afternoon prayer group was led by Dick Pracht. He always has great messages for us.

"Pretty Up" was held Wednesday morning. In the afternoon, current events with Khrista Branson reading the Marion County Record. This was followed by group therapy with May Hebrank.

An hour of hymn singing was enjoyed Thursday morning with Shirley and David Bowers.

The afternoon was spent enjoying the monthly birthday party with ice cream and cake. Those honored were Millie Bibler, July 10; Nona Dauber, July 11; Agnes Bina, July 18; Glen Alexander, July 22; and Cyril Reznicek, July 23.

After supper the Morning Star Mennonite youth sang a program of hymns. Their singing always is very much enjoyed.

Cookie baking with Khrista Branson was enjoyed Friday morning. We made cookies from an Amish recipe. They were chocolate chip oatmeal. They were delicious right out of the oven with a cup of coffee.

The afternoon was spent playing Bingo with Lois Winter, followed by group exercises with May Hebrank.

We were entertained Saturday afternoon by the Gospel Lighthouse group. They played their guitars and sang gospel songs. We love to have them visit.

Later there were video movies and popcorn, just like when we used to go to the movie theater and eat a bag of popcorn.
