(Week of June 15 to 21)

June 15 was Father's Day. The Rev. John Goering of Eastmoor United Methodist Church held church services in the afternoon.

Anita Hancock played classical music on the piano Monday morning.

Pastor Kennedy Mukwindidza of Valley United Methodist Church had communion Monday afternoon. He and another man also sang an African song while shaking an African bell. They were dressed in native shirts.

Also during the afternoon, Ellen Darrow played a collection of good old summertime songs on the piano.

Kay Steele showed her collection of music boxes Tuesday morning. There were lots of bells. Dick Pracht led the prayer group in the afternoon with Lydia Batt playing the piano.

Wednesday was "currents" with Khrista Branson reading the Marion County Record. The algae in the water supply is a very serious problem. We don't understand the side effects of it.

Thursday was "Fun Time" with Khrista. She started by asking how we used to spend our vacations. Well, most didn't go on vacations when young. Nearly everyone was on a farm and had lots of livestock and couldn't leave. We did have lots of Sunday picnics and fishing. As time moved on, there were many bus tours. After retirement, several went to the world fairs at different places. There was a lot of interesting discussion.

We made cowboy cookies at the Friday morning cookie baking time with Khrista. Several asked if we put in hats and we told them yes, even the boots and spurs. Anyway, they were delicious and we ate cookies and drank coffee.

The afternoon was spent playing Bingo with Khrista calling the numbers. This was followed by group exercise led by May Hebrank.

The Gospel Lighthouse group came Saturday and played their guitars and sang.

Many programs were canceled out due either to sickness or the wheat harvest.
