Lois Janzen
Lois Janzen, 93, died May 2, 2004, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care.
Born April 27, 1911, in Hennesy, Okla., she was the daughter of Burney and Anna Belle (Drum) Hungerford.
She grew up near Canton and graduated from high school. She lived in the Durham community and, for a number of years, lived in Oklahoma City, Okla., while working with rescue mission.
On Nov. 24, 1929, she married Herman Janzen at her parents' home near Canton. The couple worked together in the mission program.
In 1977, the couple moved to Marion. For the past five years she has been a resident of HCMC Long Term Care. Her husband died in 1996.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Marion.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Duke of Marion; a sister, Bessie Skiles of Fort Morgan, Colo.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Marion, with Pastor Bill Sherfy officiating.
"I'll Fly Away" and "My God and I," were sung by vocalists Eugene and Betty Just. Eleanor Herbel was organist.
Casket bearers were Eddie Schmidt, Rod Sondergard, Melinda Schmidt, Steve May, Jason May, and Jeremy May.
Burial was in Marion Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the church.
